Category Lead - Indirect

Job Description:

The Hadley Group requires an Indirect Category Lead to act as a Company consultant by having strong market knowledge of categories including future trend, cost characteristics, statutory legislation and developments within the sector.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Relationships: Responsible for leading and co-ordinating designated supplier relationships and strategies in accordance with the Supplier Relationship policy
  • Cost and Risk Management: Ensure assigned team meets annual purchase expenditure commitments.  Responsible for ensuring commercial negotiations are carried out in line with Category Strategies and against operational budgets/financial targets
  • Purchasing Tools: Use of ERP system or other systems in an optimal way, to maximise efficiency and minimise cost.  Contribute to improvement and share best practice across Procurement Function.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Accountable for the development of category strategies and for ensuring the subsequent execution of strategic sourcing activities through Buyers
  • Delivery and Quality:  Accountable for leading continuous improvement of frameworks which drive supplier performance within assigned categories.
  • Processes and Policies: Accountable for ensuring adherence to the company's processes and policies, maintaining purchasing systems to ensure associated KPI's are met.  Ensure Buyers are compliant and actively engaged in development / continuous improvement activities with all Purchasing Processes.
  • Reporting: Provide management reports and key performance data and monitor cost savings.  Analyse data or insights to determine industry trends.
  • Leadership & People Management: Responsible for the leadership and development of Buyers through effective coaching and monitoring and formal performance development framework

Experience:

  • Experience of leading end to end procurement processes from request for quotation to contract award
  • Has experience in collaborating cross-functionally and leadership of cross-functional teams
  • Lean/Process Improvement experience
  • Has a proven track record in delivering savings against financial targets or projects on time against budget



Qualifications Required:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Holds a MCIPS qualification or is studying towards MCIPS or demonstrable equivalent CPD
