General Operative

Job Description:

The Hadley Group requires General Operatives to work to strict safety and quality requirements, to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity to meet customer expectations and requirements, whilst optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set and feed coil.

  • Operate processes to optimum efficiency.

  • Provide an efficient and timely service to machines to ensure nonstop production.

  • Ensure oil is at right level, adjust valves, observe gauges to control flow of metal coolants and lubricants.

  • Achieve/exceed production targets.

  • Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), TPM and Safety SOPs.

  • Contribute to projects/initiatives e.g. Lean, continuous improvement etc.

  • Follow guidelines laid out in company H&S and environmental policies.

  • Report dangerous occurrences/risks.

  • Identify safety/ environmental improvements .

  • Safe and efficient use of overhead crane for material handling purposes.

  • Assist in secondary quality checks and inspections in accordance with HI quality procedures.

  • Clearing of finished goods from machine, ensuring goods are correctly identified as per HI Quality system.

  • Ensure finished goods are correctly stored.

  • Ensure equipment is properly used & stored correctly.

  • Ensure production waste is kept to minimum.

  • Ensure method and quality of packing will minimise damage to the product and contribute to safety during subsequent handling operations.

  • Identification, segregation and packing of finished goods in accordance with the Company Quality Procedures.

  • Removal and disposal of all scrap/coil ends into identified areas or bins.

  • Housekeeping/5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).


  • Previous industrial experience preferable.

  • Ideally experience in some form of sheet metal environment

Qualifications Required:

  • Slinging  & Crane operation

  • Laser Safety

  • Abrasive Wheel Training

  • Environmental training

  • Waste segregation

  • Spill kit training
